There are 8783 words in Dîvânü Lugâti’t-Türk’s index. Because the work reflects Turkish culture, a lot of data relating to sacial life can be encountered. A great deal of studies have been done about Dîvânü Lugâti’t-Türk until this time. The lexicology of the work has been examined from various points of views. In this work, how the term “heroism” is dealed has been studied. The term of “heroism” is very important in the living culture of central Asia. Heroism is an irrevocable thing fort he Turkish nation which is a warrior society and who aretremendously keen on their independency. Thus, there are a lot of words related directly or indirectly to heroism in Dîvânü Lugâti’t-Türk. These words, together with reflecting Turkish peoples’s point of view of heroism, reflect the goographical, cultural and social life of that period the data, gained by scanning the work of Dîvânü Lugâti’t-Türk, has been studied with the method of document analysis. The words related to heroism are classified alphabetically under various titles at the end of the study all words have been put in order alphabetically in a lexicographic system. From the entries of the work, the ones which are about heroism have been studied. These terms have been given Dîvânü Lugâti’t-Türk with their context meaning and together with additional information. If these terms are found in a poem or a proverb, it is also pointed out under these words once again in our study, the poems and proverbs about heroism are classified in a body as seperate titles. Dîvânü Lugâti’t-Türk should be studied not only in terrns of language but also in very respect. Because, it is one of the most important work of Turkish history. İn this study it is aimed to contribute the Turkish language and culture by doing a lexicographie study about heroism.},author={-Veis KARAHAN},year={2016},journal={NEAR EAST HISTORICAL REVIEW}}
