Abstract
Bursa gerek Osmanlı Devleti döneminde gerek Türkiye Cumhuriyeti Devleti döneminde bütün güzellikleri ile çeşitli kültürlere ev sahipliği yapmış, farklı medeniyetleri barındırmış, farklı milletlere her zaman kucak açmıştır. Bu çalışmada Amerikalı misyonerler tarafından kurulan, misyonerlik faaliyetlerini en etkili ve sistematik bir biçimde yerine getirmeyi hedefleyen Amerikan Board Teşkilatı’nın Batı Türkiye Misyonu dâhilinde Bursa istasyonu için yaptığı çalışmalar ve bu çalışmalar içinde en önemli yere sahip olan Bursa Amerikan Kız Koleji incelenmiştir. Bu kapsamda kolejin kuruluşu, kuruluş amacı, eğitim ve öğretim faaliyetleri, tanassur hadisesi ve kapatılışı ele alınmıştır. Araştırmanın yoğunluğunu Amerikan Board Teşkilatı ve misyonerlerinin Bursa’daki eğitim faaliyetleri oluşturmaktadır. Çalışma dört ana başlığa ayrılarak ele alınmıştır. İlk bölümde Bursa Amerikan Kız Koleji’nin kuruluşundaki tarihsel süreçten bahsedilmiştir. İkinci bölümde ise Bursa Amerikan Kız Koleji’nde Eğitim Faaliyetleri başlığı altında; okulda okutulan derslerden bahsedilmiş ve kız öğrencilerin nasıl yetiştirildiğine dair bilgiler verilmiştir. Üçüncü bölümde Bursa Amerikan Kız Koleji’nde çalışan Misyoner Öğretmenler başlığı altında; okulda ki eğitim kadrosu ve misyoner öğretmenlerin faaliyetlerinden anlatılmıştır. Son bölümde ise Bursa Amerikan Kız Koleji’nin Kapatılma Süreci başlığı altında; okuldaki tanassur hadisesinin duyulması ile başlayan kapatılma süreci ele alınmıştır.

Abstract
Bursa has hosted various cultures during both the Ottoman Empire and the Republic of Turkey and has always embraced different nations. In this study, the establishment of the Bursa American College For Girls, its purpose, educational programs, the Christianization event and the process of its closure were examined. This research focuses on the educational activities of the American Board Organization and its missionaries in Bursa. In this context, the research is divided into four main headings. In the first section, the historical process in the establishment of Bursa American College for Girls is addressed. In the second section, under the heading of “Educational Activities at Bursa American College for Girls”; the lessons taught at the school are mentioned and information regarding how female students were raised is presented. In the third section, under the heading of “Missionary Teachers Working in Bursa American College for Girls”; the educational staff of the school and the activities of the missionary teachers are stated. In the last section, under the title of “The Closing Process of Bursa American College for Girls”; the closing process of the school that started with the hearing of the Christianizing incident at the school is discussed.
